My Background

I received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2017. I then completed my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Washington in 2022. Now you may be wondering…that's quite the switch. Yes! Yes, it is! For me I realized that I did not want to be a part of an industry with so many negative impacts to communities globally.
I have been in the social service field since 2015. I started as a CNA working at a group home in New Orleans while in my bachelor’s program. I then moved to Seattle and became a behavioral specialist. After that, I was a youth counselor and a housing navigator working with young adults experiencing homelessness, and after that, I was an intake specialist. I entered the mental health field in May 2022. Since then I have gained experience in community mental health settings, group private practice settings, and hospital settings. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (61306200). I hold my license in the state of Washington

My Approach

I ground my practice in relational cultural therapy. I believe the work ain’t getting done unless the trust is there. How or why should I expect you to open up and discuss your past or current traumas unless we build trust? How am I supposed to support you on the goals you have unless there is a therapeutic relationship? I draw from different modalities which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Intersectional Feminism, Systems Theory, and Racialized Trauma Healing, and incorporate mindful and grounding exercises. With these modalities, I strive to understand that different modalities work for different people. I also aim to have an anti-oppressive and critical lens when using these modalities.

Areas Of Focus

From working in a community mental health setting and a hospital setting, I am thankful to have work with a diverse group of people coming from different walks of life but to name a few here are some areas that I support folk in.

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Race

  • Gender

  • Sexuality

  • Family of Origin Issues

  • Interpersonal Conflict

  • Relationships (Dating, Friends, Polyamory, Community)

  • Life Stress

Values

As a black non-binary therapist, I value creating a space to be vulnerable: a space where you are seen as your authentic self, a space to grow and heal on your life journey.

Let me leave you with this: you are the expert of your own life, which I want to honor and respect. I hope to always take a collaborative approach in your healing journey. I am here to support you with your growth. When you step into my space, I want you to understand that you are valued.
